Lets talk about closets

The epitome of a closet is not one that is full of clothes and shoes. To me, the best closets are the spaces (large or small) that are filled with function.  Filled with pieces that allow you to focus on what really matters -- how you are going to take advantage of what today brings....everyday.  Just because you have a whole bunch of stuff in there does not mean you have an awesome wardrobe. It doesn’t mean you are confident. It doesn’t mean that you have arrived at the precipice of fashion. It doesn’t mean you feel good about yourself. It doesn’t mean that you know how to dress. It doesn’t mean that you know how to dress appropriately. It doesn’t mean that you have a lot of money.  It simply means that you need a Closet Cleanse by Latham loft Style, and you probably are a low-key hoarder.

There should only be two reasons that you aren’t wearing something in your closet: 1. wrong season, 2. wrong occasion.

If it’s broken, irreparably stained (in any way-even where people can’t see), doesn’t fit, poor repair- get rid of it.

If you didn't wear it last winter odds are, you are not going to wear it this winter.  Get rid of it.

I think we have been conditioned to think that stuff means something. Stuff means nothing if it’s not functional. If it does not serve a purpose, if you are not using it- get rid of it. Or at least put it somewhere else where it has a different function.

Your closet, not matter how small or large, is where you store the things you use to present yourself to the world. And for me, my closet is the space where I prepare for how I want the world to receive me today. So get the noise and distractions out of the way so that you can focus on what is functional and what is serving you today.
