Spring 2019 Curvy Trends

Spring 2019 Curvy Trends

It’s the first day of Spring! And depending on where you live, you may not be able to tell yet. So I thought I’d give you guys a guide to what is going on in these Spring Fashion streets.

Here’s what I love about Spring 2019 trends:  many of them were popular at some point during my adolescence.

There are many more things that are in trend this season (Crochet, Tie Dye, Bucket Hats) but today i am highlighting my most favorite! Each of these trends can be found at many of my “go to” stores: Rebdolls, Eloquii, Fashionova Curve, Zara, and Ashley Stewart.

Marigold Hues

I own this dress and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Its just not warm enough in Houston to wear it yet. Plus, I need to get it altered. Pics coming soon! This color looks awesome against any complexion. Especially my chocolate sisters!! Belting the dress gives you instant waist snatch. This dress is available at Eloquii but its going fast!

Fringe

Rebdolls Fringe.png

When i was younger, we associated fringe with Western wear. Well honey….today, we associate with fierceness. In this two piece from Rebdolls, the fringe is used to accentuate the models waist. This look is very modest while showing off the curves.

While a bit less modest, this dress takes the fierceness to the next level. The fringe is applied at an angle giving the illusion that there are more curves. This is a good technique to use if you have more of a boxy (straight up and down) body-type. Less curves only means that you have to be a bit more creative. But you do not have to sacrifice style.

Animal Print

Animal print- is my favorite spring trend. I honestly don’t need a season or anyone to tell me I can wear animal print. I am down for a cheetah print whenever whatever. Here is a bold way to bring the safari to the office. pants and top from Eloquii.

Another very bold take on animal print. You can be a bit more subtle with the fluorescent animal sandals from Zara. Or kick it up a notch with this bold skirt. Two trends in one: neon and animal print.

Neon

Here is another neon piece that I love. Perfect for a day party, or night out on the town. This dress from Fashionova, does a very good job of embodying a fancy free and footloose lifestyle.

Believe it or not you can make neon office-friendly. Pair your bright top with a skirt. Here, the black and white skirt serve as your neutral. I like to think of this look as “Party at the top and business on the bottom.” This top is from Eloquii.

color blocking

This office essential came from Eloquii. The great thing about color blocking (besides the awesome color combinations) is that color blocking can create a slimmer silhouette.

Drawing the eye to a certain part of the body, it creates and illusion that curves of your body are different. Here, I have a tie in the middle of the dress that makes your eye follow the white part of the dress inward toward my waist.

Can you see it?

Here, the color blocking is done in such a way that it draws the eye to the smallest area on the upper body- the waist. Then right down to the area just below the hip. Accentuating the natural curve of her body. This beauty is from Ashley Stewart.

Biker Shorts

Got my first pair when i was 12 and i have been waiting for them to come back ever since…they always do. Biker shorts can be worn, like this with a crop top (confidence on level 37,234!). Or with an over -sized sweatshirt to camouflage some of your awesome curves. I have to admit, I am kind of excited about this comeback. These can be purchased at Rebdolls.

As you start to take advantage of the warmer weather and outdoor activities, consider refreshing your wardrobe to include some of these trends. These days, there are no rules! So you are free to explore what works for you! If it makes you feel confident, fierce, sexy, put it on and get out there! Take advantage of every opportunity. Make some opportunities. You would be surprised at how people respond to you when you show up for yourself, first!!

Happy Dressing!!!
